Payroll says it is unresponsive, what should I do?

Last updated by Claire Sillito on September 28, 2023 11:55

When running Payroll, it is perfectly normal for it to take a while. Occasionally it may come up with a message saying it has become unresponsive. You get the options to “Wait” or “Kill Page”, please know this can be a normal event. All you need do is click on “Wait”.

This happens because the request you’re making of the system may be quite a heavy one. For example - 1 months’ worth of Payroll for 30+ staff will take a long time to process, as there would be a lot of data to sift through. Running a few weeks’ worth of Payroll for a few staff wouldn’t be so heavy on the system and would therefore be faster and unlikely to become unresponsive.

Should the Payroll appear to freeze for long periods of time, then try forcing a refresh from the servers by pressing Control and F5 (or CMD R for MAC), together. This should refresh the page and continue from where it was. This is the method you should follow if it gets stuck on the “Saving Data” screen of Payroll.
